Thomas Woodcroft and his Two Wives;

Thomas Woodcroft was born about 1788 according to information he gives during the
1841,51 and 61 census. He gives his father's name as Matthew Woodcroft at the time of his
second marriage. His place of birth is always given as Haynes. This information would suggest
that Thomas was the son of
Matthew Woodcroft and Elizabeth Daniel although no baptism
record has been found.

First Marriage: Thomas Woodcroft married Mary Adcock on 19th July 1815 at St Paul


William Woodcroft baptised 6th June 1816 buried 11th October 1816 St Paul Bedford.

Sarah Woodcroft born about 1820. Sarah gave birth to an illegitimate son Charles Woodcroft,
baptised 15th December 1839, Haynes.

William Woodcroft baptised 7th July 1822 Haynes. Married Susan/nah Sharpe. Migrated to
Brisbane Australia in 1854.

1841 Census: at Silver Street Haynes [Hawnes], Thomas aged 45 an agricultural labourer ,
Mary 55 born Ireland, Sarah daughter aged 20 born in county, Charles aged 1 [son of Sarah]

Death: Mary Woodcroft aged 61 was buried on 10th July 1844 at St Mary's Haynes. [Free Reg]

1851 census  at Silver Lane Haynes, Thomas Woodcroft widower, pauper aged 63 born
Hawnes, [dob 1788] daughter Sarah unmarried servant aged 31 born Ireland!!, Charles
grandson aged 11 ag lab  born Hawnes, Thomas grandson aged 6 born Hawnes, William son
aged 28 ag lab born Hawnes, Susan his wife aged 28, plaiter,  born Wilshamstead, Mary 3
born Hawnes, Sarah 1 born Hawnes. Residing next door is future wife Ann Albury, widow aged
56, plaiter born Haynes, with her children Mary aged 25, a plaiter, Charlotte aged 19, a
plaiter, John and 17 a pauper, grandson Daniel aged 3, son Thomas aged 29 an ag lab, wife
Mary aged 28 a lacemaker, Martha aged 6 a plaiter, William aged 5 and Rachel aged 2.

Second Marriage Thomas Woodcroft married Ann Albury nee Wright in 1853.
