William Dean Tune was born 24th May 1824, Thorne, Yorkshire and baptised 16th June 1824, son of Robert Tune and Elizabeth Dean. The family emigrated to Canada about 1836. First appearance in NSW, 1864; moved to Queensland by 1868. Sons moved to Victoria around 1901.

1851 Canadian Census shows William, a baker, born England and wife Mary born England, both turning 28 next birthday with children Sarah Ann  and George [no age] residing at Woodstock, Ontario. Their religion was WM [Wesleyan Methodist]
Immigration to Australia: W Tune [William Dean Tune] and his brother Geo Tune [sic] appear on the passenger list for the Euphrasia from New York to Australia according to the New York Daily Tribune dated 2nd March 1853, page 8.
According to family information William set off to the Australian Goldfields to earn his fortune. Descendants of this family thought he had made his fortune and was pushed off a cliff and killed for his fortune and never knew he had started a new life in Australia until they were recently contacted by a descendant from his Australia family. Mary was still living when William married his second wife Margaret Farrell in 1864.
Married 2. Margaret Farrell married on 14 Apr 1864 in St Marys Cathedral Sydney NSW. William states he is a widower when he marries in Sydney. Margaret died 26th Mar 1869 in Roma Queensland Burial: 26 Mar 1869 Roma Queensland. Church Of England. Margaret died, 26th March, 1869, in Queensland. It appears there are no children from this union.
Married 3. Harriett Susannah Clark, 2nd April 1870, Roma, Queensland. Harriet Susannah Clark was born 3rd Jan 1852 in Shoalhaven New South Wales. Harriett died 30th Nov 1897 in Toowoomba Queensland. Burial: 1st Dec 1897 Toowoomba Queensland.

Queensland Census: William is shown as a 'householder' in Roma between 1867- 1868; a 'leaseholder' 1870-1871 and a 'freeholder' 1874-1879.
Desertion: William deserted Harriet in 1887
William died 9th July 1913 in Tasmania Australia [private researcher]
The Examiner [Launceston Tasmania] dated 14th July 1913 reported: The remains of the late Mr. W. D. Tune were laid to rest in the Methodist Church ground, Railton, on Friday. The hearse from Latrobe was met at the station, and was followed to the church by a good number of townpeople and country friends. The coffin was carried into the church by members of the board of agriculture, Mr. H. Priest (chairman of the board), the secretary, (Mr. Blenkhorn), Messrs. Dean and F. Morgan. Mr. Simmons, agent for the Bible Society, read the service and spoke very kindly of the deceased.
