James Nash Marshall was christened 2nd December 1846 at Saint Andrew, Newcastle Upon
Tyne, in Newcastle, Northumberland, son of
James Nash Marshall and Jane Richardson.

Amelia Augusta Ingersoll was born June Q 1853 in the district of Edmonton, Middlesex. She
was the daughter of
Riley Thomas Ingersoll and, Augusta Davies

Marriage: James a ship broker of Buckhurst Hill aged 24 and Amelia a spinster of Brocklands
aged 18
were married 1st June 1871 at St James Enfield Middlesex. Witnesses were Riley
Thomas Ingersoll [Amelia's father?], Geo W Marshall [James brother?] Emma Bright and A D
Bidlake.

Ella Katrine Marshall born Woodford West Ham Dist. Essex Sept Q 1874. Married Charles
Arthur Silberrad
on 27th September 1896 at St Thomas Cathedral Bombay. Charles was aged
26, profession JCS?? son of Arthur Pouchin De Toict?? Silberrad. Ella aged 22.


Reginald Riley Marshall born Woodford West Ham District, Essex Mar Q 1877. Married Violet
Aldridge
2nd April 1913 Adelaide South Australia.

Enid Marshall born Woodford West Ham Dist, Sept Q 1878. Married Frank Reynolds 15th
November 1905 at Christchurch Carnpore
Lucknow India. Enid was 27 residing at Orai.
Frank a DS of Police UO was 28, son of Ian Henry Reynolds.


Richard William Ingersol/l Marshall born Chigwell, Epping District Essex December Q 1880.
A Master Mariner and a sub lieutenant in the British Navy.


Irene Mary A Marshall born Epping Dist, Essex June Q 1884. Married Howard Murray at St
Pauls Catherdral
Calcutta on 25th January 1908. Howard was a Captain in the Indian army,
son of Thomas Howard McDougal Murray born about 1877.Died 1951 in East Melbourne.

Harold Guyer Marshall born Epping District Essex Sept Q 1886. Was residing at "Currawildi"
Dirrinbandi, Qld in 1913. By 1931 was residing at "Glenview" Glydenbourne Ave, Malver,
Victoria. Harold was a merchant. Married
Hilda Florence Mary Gordon in Sydney in 1937. In
New Guinea in 1941 according to mothers death notice.
Died in Australia in 1965.

Sylvia Lynette Marshall born Loughton Essex 24th August 1888. Married cousin Robert
Nash Marshall
on 30th October 1912 at Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, México [Ancestry] also
recorded in GRO Consulate Marriages 1911 and 1915 [FMP] Robert aged 26 son of Robert
Marshall and Esther Mary ? and Sylvia aged 24. Sylvia died 12th July 1917 at Cranleigh aged
28.

John Ernest Michael Marshall, born Dec Q 1893, Epping reg district. Mentioned in mothers
deaths notice as residing King Island, Australia. Served in WW1 service number 14659 Rank
from Nominal Roll Bombardier Unit from Nominal Roll 14th Field Artillery Brigade. Married
Alice Lillian Mary Mann in 1918 Victoria. Died 1955 after a car accident.

In 1851, James is residing at 3 Ord Street, Elswich, Newcastle on Tyne in the home of his
maternal grandmother, Mary Richardson a widow and mother Jane, a master mariners wife,
brothers George W [1] and Robert [1month]. Jane's brother George Richardson, an engineer,
is also present.

In 1861 Amelia [niece] and mother Augusta [visitor] are present in the home of Susanna
Davies, along with Susannah Gillespie [niece] at Bloomsbury St George, Middlesex.  James N
Marshall, a scholar, is a lodger at Corbridge Station, Dilston, Northumberland.  Also in the
household is brother George W Marshall.

In 1871 James is a visitor in the house of future wife Amelia and her family at Brooklands,  
Enfield Highway,  Enfield. James is a Ship Borker.

In 1881, James and Amelia are living at Epping Road Private, Chigwell Essex. James is
recorded as a Student of Divinity.

In 1891 James is a Ship broker and the family is living at The White House, Loughton.

The family left England between 1891 and 1898.

The Queensland Police gazette of 1898 reports that James Nash Marshall is the manager of
the Orient Steamship Company in Collins Street, Melbourne. [Money had been stolen from
the Company but not by James]

In 1909 James Nash Marshall is recorded as residing at "Waiora" Glenferrie Road Malvern
Victoria, Australia. He is recorded as being a manager. Residing with him are son Harold [of
independent means] and Aimee Amelia [home duties]

1911 English census: James Nash Marshall aged 64, retired steamship manager residing at
The Cottage' Cranleigh Surrey with wife Amelia Augusta aged 58, son Kenneth aged 18,
married daughter Irene Mary Augusta Murray aged 27, her husband Captain Howard Murray
aged 34, an officer in the Indian Army born Victoria Australia and servant Lilian May Charman.


Sons Harold and Arthur are known to have come to NSW.

Deaths:

James Nash Marshall of Ashwood, Cranleigh, Surrey died 16th 1918 at 12 Hinde Street,
Manchester Square, Middlesex according to the National Probate Calender. Amelia Augusta
Marshal, widow. Effects amounted to 63 pounds.


Amelia Augusta Marshall died 4th October 1941 in Melbourne Victoria Australia.[The Age,
