John Grattan Marshall was born 31st August 1944 at Rosevill in Sydney to Reginald Grattan Marshall and Alma Elizabeth Gosper - see below. John was a Sales Engineer. He attended Sydney Church of England Grammar School at North Sydney, as did his father, uncle and cousin. John died on 6th April 2000 in at Manly in Sydney after a battle with cancer.

Reginald Grattan Marshall and Alma Elizabeth Gosper
Alma Elizabeth Gosper was born in 1911, daughter of Sydney Ernest Marsden Gosper and Petronella Murray.
Marriage: Reginald and Alma were married in 1940 in Victoria [ref 12877] Their engagement notice appeared in the SMH on 9th March 1939: MARSHALL-GOSPER -The Engagement Is announced of Elizabeth only daughter of Mr and Mrs S E Marsden Gospel of Roseville and Windsor Farm Windsor to Reginald Grattan younger son of Mr A J H Marshall and the late Mrs Evelyn Marshall of Pimble
The Electoral Roll for 1942 finds them residing at 7a Seacombe Gr[ove?] Brighton, Victoria. Reginald is a garage engineer.
Reginald was a Lieutenant [SP] in the Royal Australian Navy, enlisting on 24th February 1943. At the time of his discharge on 22nd December 1952 he was serving at the naval base HMAS Penguin at Balmoral. At the time of his enlistment Reginald was 5 foot 10 and 1/8 inches tall. He had dark brown hair, pale blue eyes and a fresh complexion. His only distinguishing mark was a scar on his ankle, caused by a tropical ulcer contracted during his time in new Guinea before the war. Right: Reginald Grattan Marshall

Death: Reginald died at North Turramurra on 21st November 1971 [ref 67155] His ashes are interred in the naval section of the war graves garden section of Northern Suburbs Crematorium, Ryde.
