William Hughes was a printer according to the baptism records of his children.
Maria Close: It is difficult to calculate her age. In the 1841 census she is recorded as being 45

between 45 and 49 years making her date of birth between 1791 and 1796. The 1851 census
shows her age as 52 which would make her date of birth about 1799 which would make her
only 14 years old at the time of her marriage in 1813. Her place of birth is St George Stamford
