Death: Patrick Hawley died 1867 Ref: 6208/1867 HAWLEY PATRICK THOMAS JULIA MORPETH Maitland Mercury 12th September 1867: SUDDEN DEATH.—An inquest was held on Tuesday by the coroner, in a hut at Phœnix Park, on the body of Patrick Hawley, late a farmer there. The deceased had for the last twelve or fifteen years been subject to epileptic fits, for which, believing there was no remedy, he obtained no medical advice. On Friday and Saturday he was seized with fits. On Monday he complained of a headache. At about midday his wife left him with two young children to go to Morpeth. About four o'clock a neighbour, calling, found him sitting on a stool, with his body leaning forward, and his hands on the ground, either dying or actually dead. Dr. Getty was of opinion that death had bean caused by congestion of the brain while suffering from an epileptic fit. The jury returned a verdict to that effect.
Mary Hawley - unconfirmed. No record found of her birth or arrival, but she married John Hickey in 1856 at West Maitland. Death in 1894 at East Maitland shows her parents as Thomas and Julia.
